With 2005 behind us, we decided to take a look at what stories our readers viewed the most over the year. What piqued your interest the most? Snowmobile races; how to find a job in the oil & gas field; Lit’l Buckaroo Rodeo and Pig Wrestling for kids; fishing; elk; current conditions in the Wind River Mountains; and winter fun at the Green River Valley Winter Carnival.

Below are the top ten Pinedale Online news stories for 2005, based on visitation statistics.

1. SnoCross Snowmobile Races in Bondurant: Mountain West Racing (MWR) event
(February 12, 2005)
"With spectacular aerial leaps and the roar of powerful snowmobile engines, beautiful Bondurant was the setting for the latest sanctioned SnoCross snowmobile race in Wyoming over the weekend of February 12-13. Heavy snowfall early on didn’t dampen spirits one bit as men, women and junior racers from all over the Rocky Mountain west competed in the two days of races during the event…"

2. Oil & Gas Field Jobs: How do you find one?
(September 1, 2005)
"We are getting a number of inquiries again from folks who saw the recent CBS article on the need for oil and gas field workers in Wyoming. A lot of folks are trying to figure out how the heck to contact these companies to find out about "roughneck" job openings and how to apply…"

3. One-Lunger Snowmobile Race (January 1, 2005)
"The Pinedale Snow Explorers Snowmobile Club started the new year by holding their 5th annual Pinedale One Lunger 100 Snowmobile Race on New Year’s Day. The event first debuted in December, 2000. The interest in vintage snowmobiles spawned the existence of the event and turned it into a fun annual activity for the Pinedale snowmobile club, attracting many participants…"

5. Pig Wrestling-Sublette County Fair 2005: Pig Wrestling and Greased Pig Contest
(August 1, 2005)
"With names like the "Pigtails", "Raggedy Hams", "Big Bad Wolves", "Porkensteins" and "Pig Rodeoers", teams braved the slippery mud to try and grab a even more slippery squeeling pig and try to wrestle it into a barrel. Pig Wrestling and the Greased Pig Contest were two of the competitions that took place Sunday, July 31st, as part of the week-long events for the 2005 Sublette County Fair…"

6. Chuckwagon Days Rodeo: WRA & IMPRA Rodeo
(July 4, 2005)
"Big Piney & Marbleton celebrated their 72nd Chuckwagon Days celebration over the 4th of July weekend. Festivities included a WRA & IMPRA Rodeo on Sunday and Monday featuring bareback riding, calf roping, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping, bull riding and saddle bronc. 8. Elk, elk and more elk at Scab Creek!:Road, campground and trailhead are all open
(June 12, 2005)
"We scoped out conditions at Scab Creek campground and trailhead access on Saturday, June 11th. The road in, trailhead and campground are all dry and accessible. The most remarkable thing about the Scab Creek area right now is that there are still elk all over! We saw about 30 elk in various green valleys, lounging along the main road driving in and in the aspen groves along the way. There is elk sign all over the campground…"

9. Big Sandy current conditions: Road still not open to top yet
(June 12, 2005)
"The Big Sandy campground and trailhead access road are still closed about four miles from the end, as of June 11th. We took a drive up that way on Saturday to scope out current conditions and see how far the road is open. Quick summary: The road is open and dry to about a mile past the bridge over Dutch Joe Creek, with just a couple spots of remnant snow. There is a ROAD CLOSED sign in the middle of the road at the beaver ponds just before the road starts to climb. This is about 4 miles short of the campground, Big Sandy Lodge and wilderness trailhead access…"
