Trucker Freedom Convoys to come through Wyoming

February 28, 2022

There are several Trucker Freedom Convoys taking place right now and into March as peaceful protests against what they describe as government overreach and extended public health mandates for COVID-19. They are coming along multiple different routes across the U.S. to converge on Washington D.C. in early March. Two of those convoys are expected to go through Wyoming.

The California leg of the People’s Convoy is taking the southern route from California to Washington D.C. and is already on Day 6 of their trip as this article is written. Thousands of people have been congregating along the frontage roads and interstate overpasses along the route to greet the convoys with signs and flags as they pass by.

The Central-Southeast convoy will travel from Dallas, Texas to Nashville, Tennessee. Another leg beginning in Spokane, Washington is scheduled to stop and rally in Gillette, Wyoming on the afternoon of March 3rd. Another convoy leaving Pendleton, Oregon on March 2nd will roll down I-80 in southern Wyoming. Other convoys are taking place from northeast and southeast states to converge on Washington DC. Some of these convoys intend to be in the capital in time for President Biden’s 2022 State of the Union Address on Tuesday, March 1st.

On Sunday, February 27th, the California leg of the People’s Convoy was 7,000 vehicles strong and 30 miles long, according to law enforcement in Oklahoma. Vehicles included semi-trucks, RVs, pickup trucks and passenger cars. Many are decorated with American and other flags, signs, and banners.

Most of the schedules are somewhat tentative because of the magnitude of coordination required for the event and movement of all the vehicles. Information can be found on Facebook and by following the YouTube live feeds of people following and in the convoys.

Main stream media outlets appear to be intentionally ignoring these convoys and not giving much news coverage to them as they progress across the country.

Organizers stress that these are peaceful protests intended to bring attention to their grievances.

An itinerary posted to social media shows the convoy from Oregon will slow roll through Rawlins, Wyoming late in the morning and through the noon hour on Thursday, March 3rd. It is scheduled to continue to Laramie, Wyoming with a slow roll scheduled for early afternoon the same day. A stop is scheduled for Cheyenne that afternoon before it continues on to Nebraska.

A schedule for the convoy traveling down I-80 shows them leaving Troutdale, Oregon on March 1st, coming into Wyoming late on the evening of March 2nd arriving in Little America around 9PM and spending the night. On Thursday, March 3rd, they will do slow rolls by Rawlins and Laramie and stop briefly in Cheyenne, then move on into Nebraska to stop for the night. They will arrive in Washington around March 5th, converging with other convoys.

These convoys are being greeted by tens of thousands of people along their routes doing spontaneous overpass rallies, lining frontage roads, greeting the convoys waving flags and honking horns while parked in fields or along the interstate right of way, and some people are joining in and driving along with the convoy for a time. In some counties, the convoys are receiving police flashing light escorts along segments of the interstate, and volunteer fire departments are parking on overpasses and using ladder trucks to hang huge American flag banners for the convoys to pass under. Farm tractors are also being parked on overpasses carrying flags and large banners as the convoys pass by. Many groups are organizing food and supply drops at the nightly stopping points. There are also ways to give monetary donations for fuel and food to the participating truckers and to the vloggers who are covering the convoy all the way to DC.

There is no single source of information for these trucker convoys. Some info can be found on Facebook and YouTube vlogs. We’ve put some links below for more information we have been able to find. All information appears to be somewhat tentative and subject to change.
