The Town of Pinedale and Don Tegeler family held a dedication ceremony for the newly developed Trapper’s Park, the newest park in Pinedale. It is located on the south side of Pine Street, in the next block east of the county courthouse. The dedication was at 4:00PM on Saturday, December 11th as part of the day-long Mountain Man Christmas festivities in Pinedale.

A good crowd gathered and braved the 27F degree weather to celebrate with the family. Pinedale Mayor Matt Murdock said long-time Pinedale resident, Don Tegeler, came to him several years earlier saying he wanted to buy that property and give it to the Town as a donation for a park. He had already made plans on what he wanted it to look like with a pathway, rock wall, and a statue of a beaver in honor of the area’s mountain man heritage. He was able to purchase the vacant lot and began work on the transformation. Sadly, Don passed away on May 3rd, 2021 at his winter home in Tucson, Arizona.

Don’s wife, Jill, and son, Kelly, and daughter Kerry attended the dedication. A big crowd also attended, however due to the cold 27F degree temperature, no one opted to take advantage of the chairs the Town kindly provided for the event. The Town also provided hot chocolate and several large heaters for attendees.

Daughter Kerry Tegeler Majhanovich spoke briefly after Mayor Matt Murdock’s comments. She thanked several people who helped with the project:
Hugh Jennings created the bronze beaver statue. (Buffalo, Wyoming)
JB Bond created the metal mountain iron work along the rock wall on the south side of the park.
Larry McCullough, Wind River Stone Scapes, did the rock work and wall in the park.
Juan Mata and crew, Great Gannett Landscaping did the irrigation system and lawn.
Tim Ivie, Ivie Electric, did the wiring for the pole lamps.
Kevin Mitchell and the Town of Pinedale maintenance helped with keeping the lawn watered.
John Mitchell, Bickering Brothers Landscaping LLC, helped with the lawn maintenance.
Mayor Matt Murdock and Town Clerk Maureen Rudnik, organization and logistics
Ric and Rosemary Sumulski and Tom Blagg, for the dedication plaque to the Tegeler family which was placed on the rock wall.
Tom Blagg, lots of help at the beginning of the project.
Kerry’s daughters Maggie and Mandy, for their many hours of work planning and helping, and cleanup.

Don and Jill came to Pinedale in 1974 with the purchase of Allen Agency. A couple years later he renamed it Tegeler & Associates and convinced Jill to take the real estate side, which she kept as Allen Agency. Tegeler & Associates is a family-owned independent insurance agency with offices around the state of Wyoming. Today, Jill is retired and their children Kelly and Kerry carry on the legacy of working in the family business. They are happy to complete this project on their father’s behalf and present it to the Pinedale community with the hope that many use it and enjoy it.
