Sommers Homestead Open House
September 9, 2021

The Sommers Homestead Living History Museum held their annual end-of-season Open House on Sunday, September 5th, 2021. The event is a last opportunity of the year to tour the historic site and a celebration for the new inductees into the Wyoming Cowboy Hall of Fame. This year’s celebration recognized 24 cowboys with ties to Sublette County inducted from 2018 to 2021.

The event included a free home-cooked lunch of roast beef, potatoes, beans, salad, homemade rolls, and over 40 homemade pies and desserts. Jared Rogerson played live music. About 350 people attended the festivities.

Cowboys honored this year were:
Sublette County (2021): Bill Budd, Henry Hittle, Price family (Alex, Clay, Doug), Don Rogers Sr., Bud Sommers, Henry Williams
Sweetwater County (2021): Crystal Youngberg
Teton County (2021): Bill Francis, Glen Taylor
Sublette County (2020): Buss Fear, Stan Murdock, Jep Richie, Stepp family (Lon, John, Bill, Dutch)
Sweetwater County (2020): Francis Pearson, Lige Driskill & George Finch (family)
Sublette County (2019): Bob Beard, Wells, Beck, Bill Carr, Gene Pearson, Bill Sherman
Sweetwater County (2019): Dick Dickinson, Jim Ramsay & Wanda Walker (family)
Teton County (2018): Ron Stoltenberg

The Sommers Homestead Living History Museum is operated by the Sublette County Historical Society as a cooperative project with siblings Jonita and Albert Sommers, and the Green River Valley Museum. The Historical Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The Homestead is open on weekends during the summer season - admission is by donation.
