Annual Garden Tour & Dinner August 14

August 9, 2021

With our warm days and warm nights, Sublette County gardeners are enjoying gorgeous flowers and bountiful harvests. The Sage and Snow Garden Club plans to showcase three beautiful gardens on its annual garden tour and dinner, Saturday, August 14. The tour is an opportunity for local gardeners to share their expertise and experiences gardening in a challenging environment. The three stops feature innovative strategies for every level of gardener. The public is invited to attend all or part of the tour, and there is no charge for the tour or the dinner.

The tour commences at 1:00 p.m. at the home of Karen and Ole Skinner on 126 Fayette Pole Creek Road, near Pinedale. The Skinners built a large greenhouse from recycled materials and planted it full with potatoes, tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, cabbage, and asparagus. Their beautiful yard is filled with trees, shrubs, and flowers that thrive in our environment. Refreshments and cold drinks will be served at this stop on the tour.

About 2 p.m., the tour will move to the home of Barb and Dave Harper, 41 North Street, in Pinedale. The Harpers grow vegetables, strawberries, and raspberries in raised beds and mineral tubs from local ranches. Large trees and shrubs adorn their beautiful yard. Flowers are tucked in every corner. Water will be available at this stop of the tour.

At 3 p.m., the tour culminates at the home of Dorothy and Wayne Fornstrom, 39 Granite Lane, on the south end of Pinedale. Besides a yard full of mature trees and shrubs, the Fornstroms grow flowers and vegetables in mineral tubs, stock tanks, wheelbarrows, and just about anything that will hold soil. One of the outstanding features of this yard is Dorothy's successful propagation of sage brush in the landscape. About 4:30 p.m., dinner will be served at the Fornstroms, featuring pulled pork, salads, desserts, and cold drinks.

The family-friendly garden tour and dinner, sponsored by the Sage and Snow Garden Club, is free and open to the public. For questions or to RSVP, text Arlinda McLaughlin at 307-231-9402, call at 307-367-2791, or email at kmclaughlinb@centurytel.net.
