Rendezvous Dance 1948 in Daniel
Square dancing on Highway 189 at Daniel in 1948. The Green River Rendezvous Pageant was held in Daniel from 1936 to 1956. Because it was a flat and compact surface, the highway was often closed following the pageant to hold a dance. Try getting a permit for that today. Pinedale Snow Explorers, Sublette County Artists Guild, Chuckwagon Days, Sage and Snow Garden Club – we have a long history of forming and participating in organizations. Our community is uniquely defined by our organizations.

As part of Sublette County’s Centennial, the Sublette County Historical Society (SCHS)/Museum of the Mountain Man and the Green River Valley Museum would like to encourage and help the many organizations to gather and document their history, which is our history. They have created the project "Organizations Histories of Sublette County" and are now reaching out to encourage groups to participate. This project will provide guidance and assistance on how to preserve your group’s history.

Any and all groups established in Sublette County any time during its history qualifies for participation. There is no established size or length of operation required, because collectively all the established governmental, business, political, religious and social groups contributed in Sublette County history. Groups that are currently functioning, as well as those that are no longer active, qualify for this project.

In the interest of preserving a more complete history of our County in the future, we need to be preserving our documents today before they are lost. Meeting minutes, promotional materials for events, newsletters, correspondence, photographs and oral histories are examples of materials worth keeping. Paper documents and digital files are important. Consider becoming the history keeper for your group by gathering important files today. Assistance will be provided. This project is supported through a grant from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund.

If you would like to learn more about the project, please contact Ann Chambers Noble at ANoble1227@gmail.com or call the Museum of the Mountain Man at 307-367-4101.
