Sublette slowed the spread, but continued efforts needed
People 18 years of age or older can now register for the COVID-19 vaccine
by Sublette COVID-19 Task Group
March 17, 2021

As we approach the one-year anniversary of the first COVID-19 case in Sublette County, we celebrate that so far this week Sublette County has only one active case. Our case counts have declined to numbers not seen in the county since last summer.

Unfortunately, after the low number of cases in mid-summer, there was a surge of cases last fall. More than 240 cases were detected in Sublette County in the month of November 2020, resulting in the deaths of five residents of Sublette County in the month of December alone. In response to that surge, mask orders were put in place (in the county and statewide), and we quickly saw new case counts begin to decline. We had some rough months, but things improved.

The success in combatting COVID-19 in Sublette County is the direct result of the public’s support of mitigation measures recommended by public health officials. Although the statewide mask order and most other restrictions have eased, we ask continued vigilance to keep our case counts in check. The bright spot on the horizon is administration of COVID-19 vaccines. Sublette County Public Health has now opened up registration for the vaccine to all residents aged 18 years or older. Register here: https://www.sublettewycovid.com/vaccines

As of last Friday, March 12, 13.91% percent of the vaccine-eligible population of Sublette County has been fully vaccinated. An additional 8.5% have received their first dose. Vaccine-eligible means those 18 year of age or older (7,604 total people in Sublette County). This is the target population for the Moderna and Janssen vaccines being administered in Sublette County.

Meanwhile, while vaccination efforts continue, we thank you for your continued effort to keep us on the path to success in halting the spread of COVID-19 in Sublette County:
• Wear a mask over your nose and mouth, secured it under your chin, and making sure it fits snugly against the sides of your face.
• Stay at least 6 feet away from people who don’t live with you.
• Avoid crowds and indoor spaces that do not offer fresh air from outside.
• Practice good hand hygiene.
• Stay home when you’re feeling unwell.

March 17, 2021 case counts:
1 active case
674 recoveries
7 deaths
682 cumulative cases in Sublette County
