Conservation Conservations return
by Sublette BOCES
February 2, 2021
Conservation Conversations are coming back! Last year marked the first of hopefully many years of these educational presentations. This series, which was a collaboration between Sublette BOCES and Sublette County Conservation District (SCCD) covered a variety of natural resource topics that are of interest to community members in Sublette County. This year, the plan is to bring the community four presentations in a webinar format which participants can view live as well as recorded versions that will be posted to the SCCD as well as the BOCES website for viewing at a later time. All presentation topics will be announced as they are developed. Keep your eyes on both Sublette BOCES website: https://www.subletteboces.com/ and Sublette County Conservation Districts website: https://www.sublettecd.com/ for online presentations and more information.
The first session titled "Response to Catastrophic Wildfires: A Collaborative Approach in Sublette County" will be presented online on February, 17th from 12:00-12:30pm.
Webinar Description: Sublette County Conservation District (SCCD), along with many other partners, have combined expertise and resources to assist in the recovery and rehabilitation of the natural resources affected by large fires in SW Wyoming. There have been three large fires since 2012 (Fontenelle 2012, Cliff Creek 2016, and Roosevelt 2018) that have occurred on the landscape affecting multiple resources and land ownerships. SCCD along with other partners have developed a great collaborative effort to combine resources to address concerns dealing with the effects of these fires. Every fire has been different, but the Team has learned from each event and continues to get better and faster at their response.
