What are people really worried about with the possible coronavirus shutdown? Having enough toilet paper on hand. This is a view of the toilet paper aisle at Ridley’s Family Market in Pinedale on Thursday, March 11th. Photo by Bob Rule, KPIN 101.1 FM Radio.

- The Governor of Oregon has issued an Executive Order imposing restrictions to mitigate what she called an unprecedented public health crisis. The Executive Order bans social, spiritual and recreational gatherings of 250 people until April 8th. The ban does not apply to to places like supermarkets or schools. Governor Kate Brown also said schools should stop holding assemblies and other gatherings, but said the state would expect school closures to be a "last resort." She has declared a state of emergency in Oregon and state officials on Monday banned most visits to nursing homes, residential care facilities and other licensed facilities. About 30,000 Oregonians live in 670 such facilities across the state. On Tuesday, Oregon State University, Portland State University and the University of Oregon announced they would take classes online for the next term for about 80,000 students. Oregon has 21 confirmed cases of the corona virus, but no deaths have been reported.

- The NCAA has called off its men's and women's basketball tournaments as part of a complete cancellation of all remaining spring and winter championships. "This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities," the NCAA said in a statement Thursday. The announcement puts an abrupt end to a basketball season that had less than a month to go before champions were to be crowned. (ESPN)

- Disney is closing Disneyland and California Adventure, its theme parks in Anaheim, California, because of the coronavirus outbreak. "While there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 at Disneyland Resort, after carefully reviewing the guidelines of the Governor of California's executive order and in the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, beginning the morning of March 14 through the end of the month," a spokesperson for Disneyland Resort said in a statement. Though the park will close Saturday, hotels at Disneyland Resort will remain open until Monday, March 16, "to give guests the ability to make necessary travel arrangements," the statement said. - New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday banned gatherings of more than 500 people throughout the state over the coronavirus, effectively turning off the lights on Manhattan’s famed Broadway just hours after Mayor Bill de Blasio said he hoped to keep the theaters open. Cuomo said the sweeping proposal to slow down the spread of the COVID-19 virus will go into effect Friday at 5 p.m., but that the rules for Broadway will begin 5 p.m. Thursday. "We are taking new actions to reduce the density of people across the state," Cuomo announced on Twitter. "We must plan for every contingency & we are taking measures to create a reserve workforce of health care professionals in the event of a staffing shortage." (FOXNews)
