SUBLETTE COUNTY, WYOMING - Sublette County Unified Firefighters (SCUF) responded to two different structure fires and two additional false alarm incidents over the weekend. The first fire occurred in a residential home located on Lake Road in Pinedale at 11:57 Saturday night (12/17/16). Firefighters were able to contain the fire to a small area inside the attic space and keep it from spreading to the rest of the home.
The second fire occurred in a garage on East Fifth Street in Marbleton at approximately 2:57 AM Sunday morning (12/19/16). Unfortunately three vehicles inside the garage were severely damaged. However, firefighters were able to successfully keep the fire from extending to the adjacent primary residence that was less than 15 feet away from the fire.
Fire Chief Shad Cooper explained, "The recent sub-zero cold weather really affected our firefighting efforts. When it gets this cold, it presents some very unique challenges to ensure our pumps, hoses, and nozzles do not freeze and also to make sure our firefighters can stay warm."
Both fires are currently being investigated to determine the origin and cause of the fires. No injuries were reported for any of the fires. Sublette County Unified Fire would like to recognize the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office, Sublette County EMS, and the American Red Cross for their assistance during the recent fires.
SCUF would also like to remind everyone to ensure their homes have working smoke detectors installed. If anyone would like assistance with choosing, purchasing, or installing smoke detectors, please contact the Sublette County Unified Fire Department Administrative Offices at 307-367-4550 for more information.
