Where can you see 200 Pink Flamingos in Sublette County??
The Flamingo Cup Giant Slalom Ski Race March 15th at White Pine
by Sublette County Ski and Snowboard Association
March 10, 2014
The Flamingo Cup! Come on up White Pine on Saturday, March 15th and join the Sublette County Ski and Snowboard Association (SCSSA) for the Flamingo Cup ski race.
The Flamingo Cup is held each year in memory of Bruce Carlson, who was the head of the ski clubís course crew for many years. He was always cheering for and encouraging all the kids. He never missed a skiing event. You may have heard the kids chant "RPC Always Faster" and see Pink Flamingos. What does it all mean?????? What the letters stood for or the flamingo is no longer significant. It has taken on its own meaning. It was Bruceís way of encouraging the kids to do their best. Always faster, isnít just about skiing. Bruce wanted them to be not only faster, but always better, always stronger, always smarter, always happier, and always striving to be their best. It has become more of a motto for life. Bruce passed away April 2012.
The Flamingo Cup is open to all ages, youth to seniors. Deadline to enter is Wednesday, March 12th. Colorful and creative spring costumes are encouraged!
SCSSA is a 501(c) 3 non-profit volunteer organization. Our goal is to create opportunities for everyone to get out and enjoy the winter. We promote lifelong winter recreation opportunities for all ages in Sublette County. We feel skiing is a lifetime sport. We have a youth race team which gives kids the opportunity to realize their potential while learning an exciting and exhilarating sport, something they can enjoy for the rest of their lives. Skiing is one of the few sports that a family can enjoy together for many years. We also have made available discounted ski tickets to Jackson and Targhee to all club members. You donít need to be part of the race team to be a member.
