Polls open 7AM to 7PM

Throughout Wyoming, today is Primary Election Day (Tuesday, August 21st). But, no, you will not see the names of Barack Obama or Mitt Romney on any of the ballots, that comes in November in the General Election. Today's election is where the Republican and Democratic Parties pick their nominees to appear on the General Election ballot, with the exception of the Presidential race, which is handled separately. Today's Republican ballot has what is perhaps the most intense race of all, where seven candidates are seeking the GOP nomination to fill one County Commission seat. Those appearing on the Republican ballot today include Douglas Vickrey, John Linn, James Latta, Ernie Kawa, Kay Malkowski, Rocky Piernick and Paul Rock. On the Democratic ballot, Courtney Skinner is the only name listed for County Commissioner.

Jeness Saxton appears on today's Republican ballot. Since she was appointed to her present position of County Assessor, she must now seek election from the voters.

Polls are open from 7 AM until 7 PM today, and those not registered to vote but otherwise qualified to vote may register today at their polling place by bringing photo ID. For those not sure of where their polling place is located, they may call the Sublette County Clerk's Office. Sample ballots, and also audio recordings of last week's candidate forums, can be found by going to and clicking on PINEDALE LOCAL. KPIN will be broadcasting election returns tonight after the polls close and results have been tabulated.
