M.E.S.A. Horseback Poker Ride & Celebration Sept. 8

M.E.S.A. Therapeutic Horsemanship, Inc., a non-profit program aimed at providing equine-related therapy activities to individuals with disabilities within Sublette County, Wyoming, will host a horseback poker ride and celebration on Saturday, September 8th at the Lozier Box R Ranch in Cora. The event is a fundraiser with all proceeds going to help support M.E.S.A. programs.
The mission of M.E.S.A. is to promote self-esteem, self-confidence, physical independence, and social interaction through equine-related activities. The philosophy of M.E.S.A. is to establish an atmosphere of support, cooperation and respect in an equestrian environment in order to improve self-esteem, confidence, and an appreciation for individuals with disabling challenges within the community. Their equestrian services strengthen the Mind, Energy, Spirit, and Attitude of each participant, their families, and our community. Their programs use certified riding instructors, allied health care providers, educators, and community volunteers. They adhere to the values of teamwork, integrity, respect, empathy, and joyfulness in all that they do.
The event includes a horseback poker ride, youth prize ride, live music, ranch-style BBQ dinner, silent and live auctions, and lesson demonstrations. The poker ride and youth prize ride start at 2:00PM. The evening celebration is from 4:30PM to 9:30PM. There will be activities for adults, youth and children. Box R has horses available for rent (must be reserved in advance), call 307-367-4868. All youth and children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets are available in Pinedale from the Cowboy Shop, Office Outlet or the M.E.S.A. trailer at the rodeo grounds on Wednesdays. Tickets are available from Office Outlet in Big Piney and at the M.E.S.A. trailer at the fairgrounds on Mondays.
Poker Ride: Adults (18 & up) $25.00
Prize Ride: Youth (8-17) $15.00
Adult BBQ Dinner (18 & up): $25.00
Youth (8-17) : $15.00
Children under age 8 are free.
