The 2011 Sublette County Fair starts this Friday, July 22, and features the best of small town life, with lots of local entertainment and opportunities for regular folks to participate. Come down to the fairgrounds any time July 22 - 30 to see plenty of familiar faces, and meet new friends too.

This year, Fair comes earlier than it has in the past, falling completely in July. Another change is that Fair starts on a Friday and ends on a Saturday, so check the schedule for correct times for your favorite events!

Locally-organized attractions are the core of Fair and provide guaranteed excitement, plus the chance to unwind and have fun. Just a few of the home-grown events on tap:
• Friday Night Rodeo
• Demolition Derby
• Barrel Racing and Team Roping
• Pig Wrestling/Greased Pig Contest
• Little Buckaroo Rodeo

If you like your excitement on the quiet side, there are countless exhibit hall categories for everyone from welders to photographers to furniture makers!

And don’t forget the food. Between the Dutch Oven cook-off, chocolate dessert bake-off, and Buyers Appreciation and Cowbelles Luncheons (both open to all), everyone will have a chance to feast on genuine Sublette County cuisine (or die trying).

Kids Ag Connection, presented by local producers, provides hands-on demonstrations in animal care, geared especially for youngsters. This year’s topics are rabbits, beef, and draft horses. Participants take home great info, a t-shirt and a book!

In addition to top-rated professionals from elsewhere, Fair hosts entertainment from western Wyoming’s own. The Rock Rabbit All Stars, consisting of musicians Jason Burton, Terry Hill, Mike Hurwitz and V the Gypsy Cowgirl, will take turns performing on the Deanne Bradley Stage July 27 – 30. Country singer/songwriter Jared Rogerson and his band will liven up the All Ages Barn Dance, sponsored by Cimarex, on Thursday, July 29 at 7 p.m. and will also enhance the Buyers’ Appreciation Luncheon at noon on Saturday, July 30. And don’t miss the talent show, pet shows, and many 4-H/FFA youth contests, where the future of our community is on display.

Lastly, Fair wouldn’t even happen without local volunteers, sponsors and donors, who provide the entertainers, contests, prizes, hours and elbow grease to keep Fair fun, safe, and running smoothly. Fair’s biggest support comes from the Sublette County Commissioners, our local government.

For details about events and contests, look in your Fair brochure delivered to mailboxes July 5, see your Fair Book, or go online to www.SubletteCountyFair.com.

The Sublette County Fairgrounds are located on US Highway 189 where it joins Wyoming Highway 351, just north of Marbleton. See you at the Fair!
