Leases issued as a result of this sale have a primary term of 10 years. It will continue beyond its primary term as long as oil or gas is produced in paying quantities on or for the benefit of the lease. Once a lease is producing, companies must pay a royalty of 12.5 percent of the value or the amount of production removed or sold from the lease. Parcels that do not receive a bid at the competitive sale are available for noncompetitive offers to lease beginning the first business day following the day of the sale. If not withdrawn, these parcels are available for noncompetitive offers to lease for a period of two years following the day of the sale.

The next four competitive lease sales are tentatively scheduled for April 3, 2007, June 5, 2007, August 7, 2007 and October 2, 2007. Sale notices, and the results list, will be available at the BLM internet site: http://www.wy.blm.gov.
