G&F hosts Hunter Ed Open Houses
Meeting in Pinedale November 2
by Wyoming Game & Fish
November 2, 2006
Anyone interested in becoming a hunter education instructor or just learning about the hunter education program in Wyoming and meeting the new coordinator is invited to attend a workshop being held in November.
The first hour will be an open house, providing new and veteran instructors the opportunity to meet Jim Dawson, the new Wyoming Hunter Education coordinator and share any suggestions they have pertaining to the program. The orientation workshop for prospective instructors will follow.
Dawson encourages all hunter education instructors to attend the event so he can meet them, share ideas and foster continued support for the hunter education program.
"The intent of the orientation is to build relations between instructors and the statewide coordinator, emphasize the unified message and ultimately improve the program," he said. "We'd also like to see some new faces and recruit some new instructors. Our entire program is taught by volunteer instructors and we can always use more good, reliable hunters to help teach. Of course, we also want to let those existing instructors know how much their efforts are appreciated."
He adds the student manual revised in 2003 and the relatively-new Hunter Education On-line option are other topics to possibly discuss at the event which runs 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. at the following locations:
Nov. 1: Jackson G&F Office
Nov. 2: Pinedale Library
Nov. 8: Green River G&F Office
Nov. 15: Lander G&F Office
