Trophy mule deer poached in Grey’s River area
by Wyoming Game & Fish Department
December 20, 2004

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking any information about a trophy mule deer that was poached in the Grey's River on October 30, 2004. A reward will be offered for any information leading to the arrest or conviction of the person(s) who knowingly shot the deer in the Grey's River drainage, near Bridge Campground.

The Grey's River is home to some of the state's largest trophy mule deer. Law abiding, responsible hunters may wait a lifetime to harvest a trophy. The Grey's River deer population has never fully recovered from recent years of drought and last year's winter kill. "This buck was at prime breeding age and had a lot of potential to pass on healthy genes to future generations," said Wyoming Game and Fish Warden Todd Graham. "The deer had made it through the hunting season. It's a shame that legal hunters won't have an opportunity to hunt this deer next year."

Anyone providing information leading to the conviction of the person or persons involved can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward. Anyone with information pertaining to this poaching case should contact Fred Herbel at (307) 733-2321 or Todd Graham at (307) 886-3717.
