FIRE ACTIVITY:
The Dollar Lake Fire is 19,490 acres and is 63% contained.

Crews are continuing mop-up operations to reinforce and add depth to containment lines around much of the fire perimeter. The active fuels reduction operation continues to be successful along Forest Service Road 680, as well as the chipping operation around the Green River Lakes Campground. A team of fallers has begun work in previously inaccessible areas, now safe to enter following reduced fire activity. Additionally, rehabilitation work is underway, with excavators restoring dozer lines constructed during initial suppression efforts near the Bible Camp.

The crews working in the Green River Lakes area are holding the line utilizing MIST tactics to prevent any fire from moving east of the Green River Lakes and the CDT. Minimum Impact Suppression Tactics (MIST) are a set of principles used in wildland firefighting to reduce the environmental, cultural, and social impacts of fire suppression activities. The rest of the wilderness portion of the fire will utilize natural features to obtain containment and a variety of observation techniques (including helicopter reconnaissance, infrared mapping over nighttime hours, and UAS flights with video and infrared data collection) to ensure full suppression objectives are being met.

Aviation resources are also being used to monitor wildlife activity in and around the fire area to protect the safety of both the fire personnel and the animals in the area.

WEATHER:
The temperature will be warmer than yesterday, with a low this morning of 28F and highs predicted around 63F. Winds will be out of the north and northeast. There’s a 30% chance of rain/drizzle throughout the afternoon. Thursday shows a drying trend coming through the area and is predicted to be the sunniest day this week, with a cloud cover coming in Friday.
