Earth Week at the Pinedale Library
by Sage & Snow Garden Club
April 4, 2022

To celebrate Earth Day and Earth Week, the Sage and Snow Garden Club and the Pinedale Library are hosting three events. All events are free and open to the public.

On Tuesday, April 19, at 6:30 p.m., the film, KISS THE GROUND, will be shown in the Lovatt Room of the Pinedale Library. The film shows examples of how regenerative agricultural practices are being used to capture excess carbon from the atmosphere. The film, narrated by Woody Harrelson, has won numerous awards. Following the film, Dave Racich will moderate a discussion and question and answer session with panelists, Taylor Kepley and Linda Baker.

On Thursday, April 21, there will be a Gardening Swap in the Lovatt Room at the Pinedale Library with setup starting at 5:00 pm. Gardeners can bring tools, seeds, plant starts, houseplants, books, magazines, knickknacks, or anything related to gardening to swap. Participants can come in and find something useful for their gardening endeavors. The Sage and Snow Garden Club is donating several boxes of artificial flowers to the swap. No money will be exchanged for the items.

Also on Thursday, April 21, local gardener, Arlinda McLaughlin, will share a presentation on "Easy Flowers and Vegetables to Grow in Sublette County" at 6:30 p.m. in the Lovatt Room of the Pinedale Library. Arlinda will focus on varieties that have been grown in Sublette County for generations and introduce some new species that have been shown to thrive in our challenging growing environment as well. She will also address soil amendments, fertilizers, and potting mixtures that help plants thrive in our short growing season. For inspiration and enlightenment, Arlinda will share pictures of different types of container gardens, raised beds, and in-ground garden beds used by Sublette County gardeners. A handout of the presentation will be given to participants. The public is invited to this free educational event.
