Health and Safety Expo set for June 28th in Pinedale
by Sublette County Rural Health Care District
June 8, 2017
Men throughout the Sublette County shouldn’t have an excuse of cost when it comes to attending the annual Men's Health and Safety Expo. That's because this year's event is free of charge, will have free smoked pork sandwiches, and will give out more than $2000 dollars worth of free grand and raffle prizes for those present to win.
The event runs 5 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28 at the Sublette County Library’s Lovatt Room in Pinedale.
Presenting event organizations include the Sublette County Rural Health Care District, Wyoming Cancer Resource, Southwest Counseling, Proactive Rehabilitation, and Sublette County Public Health, where all agree too many men in Sublette County fail to take care of themselves like they should.
"It's not unmanly to see a doctor," Amanda Key of Sublette County Rural Health Care District said. "It's hard to work well and live well if you don't take care of yourself first. What we hope through this health and safety expo is that the men we all love will take a serious look at their health, fitness, and general wellness. And get regular check-ups."
The evening will feature 15+ health and safety information groups who have come together for June’s Men’s Health Month to raise awareness of available resources and services for the men of Sublette County. Toward that end, Sublette County Public Health will will perform blood pressure checks and A1C checks.
"We are very excited to be able to hold this event in Sublette County," Dina Porter of Wyoming Cancer Resource said. "Men don't always want to reach out and ask for help. This is a great opportunity for the community to come together and get some answers to those questions that might be on their minds. We not only want to talk about physical health but mental and financial health as well as general safety. There are so many resources available right here in Sublette County and we want to let everyone know what and where they are. Come down and learn about everything from the dangers of high blood pressure to how to check you home for radon. We have a great night planned with a lot of activities and important information. Come for dinner, stay for the great presentations, and of course, some awesome prizes."
A variety of vendors are lined up to talk to men one on one about their health, including Sue Holz on back health (ProActive Rehabilitation), Aaron Preece on mental health (Southwest Counseling), Dina Porter on colon health (Wyoming Cancer Resource) and Kyla Bowers on skin health (Altitude Drug).
Then at 6:30 pm, a panel of Sublette County Rural Health Medical Providers will take the stage to answer questions from cards submitted by men followed by a presentation, "Surviving Sublette County", by Kenna Tanner of TipTop Search and Rescue.
The first annual event is sponsored by Bucky’s, Pinedale Properties, Great Outdoor Shop, and Castle Rock. MC’s for the night are KC Lehr and Aaron Preece. Food will be compliments of Stoney Vance of 307-Q Catering. For expo information, contact Amanda Key at 307-367-0018 / firstname.lastname@example.org.
