Sci–Fi Exhibit & Movie Marathon at the Pinedale Library in October
Sci-Fi Movie Marathon on Saturday, October 20th
by Sublette County Library
October 10, 2012
Calling all Sci-Fi Fans! Whether you’re a classic movie buff or remember these movies when they first hit the theaters, you’ll enjoy Terror in the Theater, an exhibit mounted jointly by the American Heritage Center and the University of Wyoming Art Museum. The exhibit will be on display at the Sublette County Library, 155 S Tyler Ave in Pinedale throughout the month of October.
The exhibit celebrates what some call the "Golden Age of Science Fiction Films" and showcases some of the fears faced by the world in the 1950s, whether real or imagined. Included in the exhibit are posters, photos, letters and props from 1950’s movies contrasted with earlier and later science fiction classics such as King Kong and Star Trek.
But wait...there’s more! See some of the films for real during our Sci-Fi Movie Marathon Saturday, October 20th, noon-8 pm. The lineup includes: The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Forbidden Planet, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Gojira - the Japanese remake of Godzilla. All the movies are free and popcorn will be served. Don’t miss this event; these movies are fun for the whole family! Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
Noon - The Day the Earth Stood Still (92 minutes)
2:00 - Invasion of the Body Snatchers (80 Minutes)
4:00 - Forbidden Planet (98 minutes)
