Greys River Black Bear hunt areas close
Quotas reached for spring bear hunting
by Wyoming Game & Fish
June 4, 2012
Black bear hunters are alerted that Black Bear Hunt Areas 14, 15, 16, 17, and 30 within the Greys River Bear Management Unit closed to spring hunting on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 11:30 AM.
The combined Hunt Areas 14, 15, 16, 17, and 30 closed because the spring harvest quota of 22 female black bears was reached. Black bear hunting seasons close when the female mortality quota is reached, or on closing day, whichever comes first. If the harvest quota had not been reached this season, these hunt areas would have closed ½ hour after sunset on June 15. The fall archery season for black bear in these hunt areas will open August 15. Hunters should check the current black bear regulations for specific opening dates as they vary by area.
All black bear hunters are reminded to check the status of their hunt areas before they hunt by calling the Black Bear Area Mortality Quota Hotline at (800) 264-1280 or visiting the Game & Fish website at: http://wgfd.wyo.gov/web2011/hunting-1000743.aspx. Information on hunt area closures is updated daily. Any harvested black bear must be reported to a game warden, biologist, or WGFD regional office within 72 hours. See the regulations for more details.
