On Monday, April 16th, QEP natural gas company officially presented the deed to the Sublette County Commissioners for the donation of 35 acres south of Pinedale to create the Rose Skinner Preserve and Sublette County 4-H and Agricultural Center.

Members of the Sublette County 4-H spoke to personally thank to QEP for the generous donation. Representing 4-H and FFA were Thomas Shaffer, Brookely Schamber, Sarah Bousman, Savannah Mitchell, Kayla Grove, FFA advisor Rex Hamner, and 4-H & Youth Development Coordinator Robin Schamber.

On hand for the presentation were representatives from QEP, the Sublette County Commissioners, Sublette County School District #1 Superintendent Jay Harnack, and special guest Wyoming Governor Matt Mead and officials from the Governor's office.

When QEP purchased the former Maytag ranch for their new offices, the Maytag family wanted part of the historic 200 acre ranch to remain a ranch for the benefit of the community. QEP honored that commitment with the donation of the 35 acres as well as building a livestock barn allowing kids to participate in 4-H livestock programs that would not otherwise have a place to keep their animals. QEP also wanted to "recognized and honor the tremendous contributions Rose has made to the Town of Pinedale and Sublette County during her many years of public service". A plaque in her honor will be at the new site.
