CHEYENNE, WYOMING - The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that John P. LaBuda, an attorney from Pinedale, Wyoming, has been elected Secretary/Treasurer of its organization.

The 2010/2011 Election of Officers was held according to Article II, Section 1 and Article VI of the Bylaws of the Wyoming State Bar. The results of the election were announced last week in Cheyenne, Wyoming, at the Bar’s Annual Business Meeting.

LaBuda succeeds Patrick W. Korell of Torrington who was elected Vice President of the Bar.

LaBuda was born and raised in Berlin, Wisconsin, and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He headed west to Wyoming and attended the University of Wyoming College of Law and graduated in 1992. Wyoming is where he stayed. He began the practice of law as a public defender in the Sheridan office. In 1995, he opened up Palmer and LaBuda, P.C. in Rock Springs until 1996. In 1997, LaBuda moved to Pinedale and started LaBuda Law Office, P.C., a general practice law firm. He is also currently an assistant public defender on a contract basis and a magistrate judge for the Honorable Curt Haws, Ninth Judicial District Circuit Court in Pinedale. LaBuda recently completed his term as the bar commissioner for the Ninth Judicial District. He is involved in numerous organizations in the Pinedale area including the Catholic church golf tournament fundraiser, the Thanksgiving Turkey Fundraiser for the less fortunate, and the Pinedale Elementary Parent Advisory Committee.

In his capacity of Secretary-Treasurer, LaBuda will assist the Executive Committee of the Wyoming State Bar in preparing the annual budget and in presenting it to the Board of Commissioners. He will also advise the Executive Director and the administrative staff of the State Bar about procedures for maintenance of proper minutes and records; maintenance of correct membership files and mailing lists; methods and procedures used in the receipt, collection and safekeeping of all funds of the State Bar; procedures for disbursement and audit of such funds; and the general operation of the Bar office.
