Kemmerer public meeting on Brucellosis April 14th
by Wyoming Livestock Board
April 12, 2011

Wyoming State Veterinarian, Jim Logan, is hosting a meeting for cattle producers in southern Lincoln County on Thursday, April 14th at 7:00 p.m. at the Fossil Country Museum in Kemmerer. This meeting is to discuss two new board orders passed by the Wyoming Livestock Board at its’ meeting last week. One board order expanded the boundaries of the Brucellosis Designated Surveillance Area in Lincoln, Hot Springs, and Park counties. The boundary in Lincoln County was extended south to Highway 30.

The second board order requires approved individual identification on all sexually intact cattle regardless of age that leave the Designated Surveillance Area.

Both board orders will impact cattle producers who live in or run cattle in the Designated Surveillance Area at any time of the year because there are specific Brucellosis testing, vaccination, and identification requirements for cattle run in the Designated Surveillance Area.

If you run cattle anywhere in the Designated Surveillance Area, you are encouraged to attend the meeting to be updated on new requirements.

For further information or questions, please contact Dr. Jim Logan, WY State Veterinarian, (307) 421-1682, or Dr. Bob Meyer, WY Assistant State Veterinarian, (307) 256-0952.
