WYDOT issuing the Final EIS for Jackson South road project

JACKSON – The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), have completed the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the Jackson South project. The project would improve seven miles of U.S. 26/89/189/191 from milepost 148.6 to milepost 141.4.
The FEIS will be available for a 30-day public review period, beginning Sept. 17, 2010 and ending Oct. 18, 2010. The Combination Alternative, which includes five lanes from South Park south, before transitioning to a four-lane then three-lane highway before entering Hoback Junction, has been identified as the Preferred Alternative. An informal open house on the Jackson South Final EIS will take place on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010 at the WYDOT Offices at 1040 Evans Road in Jackson from 5 to 7 p.m. In addition to the Jackson South FEIS project, information about the Hoback Junction Bridge Project will also be presented at the public meeting.
The public meeting will be held in an open house format—no formal presentation will be made.

Copies of the FEIS will be available for review at the public open house and throughout the public comment period from Sept. 17, 2010 through Oct. 18, 2010 at the following locations during normal business hours:
In Jackson, at the Teton County Library, 125 Virginian Lane; Teton County Engineering Office, 320 South King St; Jackson City Hall,150 East Pearl; WYDOT Jackson Office, 1040 Evans Road; or the Hoback Market, 10880 South US Hwy 89.
In Cheyenne, at the Federal Highway Administration, 2617 East Lincoln Way or the WYDOT Headquarters, 5300 Bishop Boulevard.
In Rock Springs, at the WYDOT District Office, 3200 Elk Street.
