Sage-Grouse Working Group to meet July 20
by Wyoming Game & Fish
July 17, 2010
The Upper Green River Basin Local Sage-Grouse Working Group will hold their next meeting from 12:00PM-4:00 PM, Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the Shell Building located in Pinedale at 205 S. Entertainment Lane (directly south of the movie theater and Wolf’s Pinedale Dodge)
One topic of discussion will be the modifications to the sage-grouse "Core Areas" within the local working group area. Governor Freudenthal's Statewide Sage-Grouse Implementation Team was assigned to evaluate and revise the current Core Area boundaries as appropriate using specific biological and land use (development) sideboards. These new areas were provided to the Governor on June 28, 2010.
Other items to be addressed on the agenda include:
1) a review of the Upper Green River Basin Sage-Grouse Conservation Plan,
2) a discussion of statewide project funds, and
3) updates from committee members on current projects.
For more detailed information on the meeting contact Jennifer Hayward at 307-367-2257 x110. All local working group meetings are open to the public.
The group is one of eight local working groups that were formed across the state. The group comprises eleven local citizens representing groups interested in sage-grouse conservation. The role of the group is to develop and set in motion local conservation plans to benefit sage-grouse and, whenever feasible, other species that use sagebrush habitats.
