One Sublette County Family: A Celebration of Our Strong & Diverse Heritage
A collaborative project to build community in Sublette County
by Sublette County Library
July 17, 2010
As Walt Whitman once said, we are "not merely a nation but a teeming nation of nations" and that could be said about the unique lifestyle of our region. Steeped in old traditions yet merging with a boom/bust economy, we are proud to be individuals and to call Sublette County home. Let's celebrate our collective uniqueness by spotlighting our families of all looks, shapes and sizes.
Send us a photo of your family, traditional or non-traditional, and a statement of what makes your Sublette County family unique. These items will be collaged to create a community art piece, and collectively we can learn about and pay tribute to the ties that bind. Pictures and statements of your family can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or delivered as a hard copy to the Pinedale or Big Piney Libraries. Hard copies cannot be returned. The deadline for photos and comments is Saturday, July 31st.
There will be a Community Potluck & Celebration on Tuesday, August 17th from 5:30—7:30 pm at the Sublette County Library in Pinedale. The celebration will also take place in Big Piney at a later date when the project will be moved and displayed at the Big Piney Library.
"One Sublette County Family" is a community collaboration of the Sublette County Library, the Sublette County Sexual Assault/Family Violence (SAFV) Task Force, Sublette County Treatment Court, Pinedale Fine Arts Council (PFAC), and Happy Endings Animal Rescue.
