Ms. Sommersí reading classes have Poetry Out Loud Contest

Ms. Sommersí high school reading classes participated in the Poetry Out Loud school contest on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at the auditorium in the Big Piney Fine Arts building. This contest is also a state and national contest sponsored by the Wyoming Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts and Poetry Foundation.
Each student had to recite two poems from a specified list they had memorized. They were judged on physical presence, voice and articulation, appropriateness of dramatization, level of difficulty, evidence of understanding and overall performance.
The following students participated: Maria Chessani, Juan Mora, Teresa Perez, Christian Mora and Laura Delgado. Laura Delgado won first place, and Terea Perez took second place with Christian Mora placing third.
The top performer advances to the state competition in Cheyenne, Wyoming on March 1-2, 2010.
The following people took time out of their day to be wonderful judges: Sue Kinikin, Nancy Guio, Helena Linn, Dick and Zoe Kalber. Luann Dekraker was the tallier.
