Crash in Hoback Canyon injures four

Four people were injured on Tuesday, August 4th, in a head-on collision in Hoback Canyon. Two vehicles were involved, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol. The accident occurred just south of the Teton/Sublette County line in Hoback Canyon on US 191.
A northbound vehicle driven by a Wisconsin man, Andrew Long, 19, swerved head-on into the lane of a southhbound vehicle driven by Rodney Barta, 46, of Pinedale. (Editor's Note, 8/7/09: Rod Barta contacted us to correct this story that he was in the vehicle driving southbound and was hit by the northbound vehicle. Rod added, "The people that responded to this accident from Sublette County and Teton County were fantastic. They all did a great job.")
Sublette County EMS issued the following statement on Thursday, August 6th:
"No fatalities in Tuesday’s Head-on accident
On Tuesday August 4th, 2009 at 4:07 PM, Sublette County Emergency Response personnel were dispatched to a head-on accident in the Hoback Canyon. The accident occurred at mile marker 149 on US highway 189/191. Two pick-up trucks with a total of four occupants were involved. Three patients were transported to St. Johns medical center in Jackson by ground ambulances and one patient was air lifted to EIRMC in Idaho Falls. All four occupants are expected to recover. This accident required a multi-agency response. The responding agencies were the Sublette County Sheriff’s office, Fire and EMS, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Teton County Fire/EMS, Teton County Sheriff’s office and Air Idaho Rescue."
It has been reported that Andrew Long was arrested on suspicion he was driving under the influence of marijuana at the time of the accident.
