(Pinedale) — Through partnerships with local nonprofit and charitable organizations, EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. invested more than $226,000 last year in organizations within Sublette County as part of its commitment to leadership in the field and in the community. Statewide, EnCana funded more than $1.4 million in 2008, yet the majority of its grants are directed to communities where it operates.
In 2008, EnCana approved 33 grant requests in Sublette County through its community investment program, which helped fund a wide range of sustainable community initiatives including:
• Two $10,000 high school scholarships
• Big Piney A Woman’s Work to assist women with emergency funding needs
• Sublette County youth programs such as 4-H, after-school enrichment and Robotics Club
• Partnership and public education outreach programs with Pinedale CLIMB Wyoming and Green River Valley Land Trust
• Raising Readers in Wyoming Sublette County Book program
These partnerships, and others, allow EnCana to work with neighboring organizations to address local issues and strengthen the communities we call home. EnCana continually looks for community investment and creative partnership opportunities to generate positive change that will fortify local communities.
EnCana's community investment program is focused on the following areas: sciences, trades and technology; environment; family and community wellness; community development and sports and recreation.
