Pinedale Nordic Ski Grooming Report, January 14
by Bob Barrett, Pinedale Ski Education Foundation
January 14, 2009
A break from the recent storms has allowed our grooming to catch up with the increasing snow pack. The upper trails along Skyline Drive are groomed with the PistenBully four days per week (Mon., Wed., Fri., Sat.) and all routes are open with almost no exposed obstacles. The wind has been creating drifts in the meadows but skiing in the trees and other protected sections is good and fast. The only hazard is in getting there as Skyline Drive beyond the Halfmoon Lake turnoff has been ice-packed and treacherous this week.
The CCC Pond Pathway is groomed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings with the snowmobile drag. Snow coverage is good now on nearly all of the trail loops between the south parking lot and the boat ramp parking. Wind drifts have been forming almost daily.
The county’s newly purchased PistenBully 100 with rubber tracks has arrived. It will be used to groom the CCC Pond Pathway beginning this week.
