Sublette County Commissioners kicked off the new year with
a business meeting Tuesday, and started the day by having
Sublette County Clerk Mary Lankford swear in Commissioner
John Linn for his second term in the elected office.
The commission made the following board appointments:
Margie Braun and Nancy Espenscheid to the fair board;
Dave Bell to the recreation board;
Laurie Hartwig to the certified local government board; and
Cash Rich to the predator management district board.
The commissioners noted their desire to have the
county weed and pest district take over county-wide mosquito spraying efforts, but noted there has been a hesitancy from the district to do so. Because the commission would like to explore this possibility with the W&P district, the commission decided not to make full term appointments to the board, instead choosing to reappoint Judi Adler and Monte Skinner for 45-day terms.
The commission requested the W&P board meet with the commission to discuss mosquito control at the commission's Feb. 3 meeting. The commission will then make the regular term board appointments at its Feb. 23 meeting.
Although the commission had advertised all of the board positions available, not all the positions were filled. There is still a Big Piney seat available on the W&P board, and a seat on the ag center committee, as well as a seat on the rec board. For more information about these seats, and how to apply, contact Sublette County Clerk Mary Lankford, 307-367-4372.
