White Pine Resort Torchlight Parade – Ski in the New Year!
An annual tradition for White Pine Ski Area, the Torchlight Parade is a spectacular sight. This is for intermediate or better skiers or snowboarders. No beginners or anyone not very comfortable on skis. Lifts load around 5:00PM Wednesday afternoon for the ride to the top. Skiers should dress warm and wear old clothes (the torches throw off sparks). Spectators welcome to watch from the lodge. Afterwards, everyone is invited to enjoy a Chilifest dinner (chili, cornbread, drink). Cost is $8.50 for adults, and kids 12 and under are $6.00. For those who want to avoid the stream of traffic coming down the mountain after the lifts close for the ski day at 4PM, we recommend those who want to go up for the Torchlight Parade go up early. White Pine is located just 10 miles from Pinedale in the Bridger-Teton National Forest in the Wind River Mountains. Take Skyline Drive out past Fremont Lake (out past the medical clinic and Museum of the Mountain Man). The road is paved all the way and well plowed, but caution and slow speeds are always advised, as the road is narrow and windy in places.
