Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Jim McBride has released the new Wyoming Education Summary, which will be inserted in newspapers throughout the state later this week. The summary provides a comprehensive look at specific achievements, data and resources at school district and state education levels.
In an editorial, McBride said: "I have taken the opportunity to summarize this data specifically for two reasons. First, as promised, I think all data at the state, school or district level should be transparent and available. Secondly, this summary can be the basis for discussions at every level of the community. Our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, mayors, bankers, civic leaders, business owners, absolutely every interested member of our communities should review the data, ask questions and know what’s going on in their school district and schools."
In addition to revealing items like how each school district did on the PAWS reading, math and writing proficiency exams, a variety of other interesting information is included, including graduation rates.
The graduation rate for Sublette County School District No. 1 is 91.5 percent, while Sublette County School District No. 9's graduation rate is 87.5. Both districts have a higher graduation rate of the state average of 79.5 percent.
