Sublette County Softball is preparing for the 2008 season!
With the official start of Spring behind us, its time for softball players throughout Sublette County to start oiling their gloves and warming up their arms. This year the Sublette County Softball League will not only be offering a coed league for those players looking for casual play, but is proud to announce the development of a competitive menís league.
The rules have changed a bit for the coed league which now requires a minimum of 10 players to constitute a team, all of whom are 17-years of age or older. Each team must include at least five women and five men to play the field in any given inning, and are limited to 16 individuals per team. The lineup will consist of the ten players in the field that inning and must alternate between the women and men batters. Should a player be substituted in the field, they must be substituted in the lineup as well. In addition, each team must designate at least one individual who is willing to umpire a separate game should the need arise. Each team on the Menís League will also be limited to 16 individuals and the official rules will be announced at the meeting.
Two pre-season meetings will be conducted this year; one to retrieve sign-up materials and one to return sign-up materials. Both will consist of a short overview of this seasonís rules and how they will be applied, as well as additional league information. Teams may also pick up and submit their roster, team fee, and waivers. The initial meeting will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2008, from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at the Pinedale Library, and the second on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, from 6:30 p.m. Ė 7:30 p.m. at the Pinedale Library. Please be advised that rosters will not be accepted and team fees of $150.00 per team are non-refundable after April 30, 2008. Individuals who are interested in playing, but do not belong to a team prior to the pre-season meetings, are encouraged to attend anyway, and with the help of the Sublette County Softball League may find placement for the season.
The League will be promoting two fundraisers this year. Fun softball-related t-shirts will be on sale and will be available at the pre-season meetings, as well as advertising opportunities in the form of banners, which will be on display at the Pinedale Ball Fields. Details will be outlined in the near future.
The League is also seeking umpires for the 2008 season; experience is preferable, but not necessary. Umpires will be compensated for their time. Please email email@example.com with questions or call Kate Grimes at 307-537-3459.
