Upper Green Winter Ozone Study at the Pinedale Airport
Due to the pressing need to manage ozone air quality in the Upper Green River Basin and the limited amount of information currently available about the nature and causes of these unusual events, the WDEQ funded a comprehensive field study during the 2007 late winter - early spring season…Data from this current study will be used to develop a conceptual model of ozone formation. Data collected includes wind, temperature, relative humidity and ozone, fine particle loading, time-lapse photo documentation, surface and airborne VOC and carbonyl sampling, aircraft measurements of both spiral and horizontal traverse flight patterns.

Air Quality Index: A Guide to Air Quality and Your Health
AirNowA cross-agency U.S. Government Web site
What does local air quality mean to you ...if you are planning outdoor activities that day? ...if you have children who play outdoors? ...if you are an older adult? ...if you have asthma? This booklet will help you understand what you can do to protect yourself from air pollution. In large cities (more than 350,000 people), state and local agencies are required to report the AQI to the public daily. When the AQI is above 100, agencies must also report which groups, such as children or people with asthma or heart disease, may be sensitive to the specific pollutant. If two or more pollutants have AQI values above 100 on a given day, agencies must report all the groups that are sensitive to those pollutants. Many smaller communities also report the AQI as a public health service.

AirNow Ozone Map across the US (current one hour and 8-hour averages)
Ozone and Particulate Matter (PM2.5) data are published as soon as practical after the end of each hour and as such are not fully validated. Maps are also archived in the same way. Therefore, data are only approved for the expressed purpose of reporting and forecasting the Air Quality. Maps are generally available after 9 a.m. http://www.airnow.gov/index.cfm?action=airnow.displaymaps&Pollutant=OZONE&StateID=60&domain=super#map
EnviroFlash is a new program, sponsored by the EPA with State and local air quality agencies. EnviroFlash provides important air quality information such as forecasts and action day notifications via email or pager notification. The email includes the same local, air quality forecast information which is coordinated through the news media, like television and radio.

Scientist Unions Pledge to Secede from Cooperative Forum, Citing Rising Distrust

In a stinging rebuke, unions representing the vast majority of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency scientists, attorneys and other specialists have vowed to cut off future discussions with embattled Administrator Stephen Johnson, according to a letter released today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER). Already in the hot seat for overruling staff advice that he was legally required to grant California’s requested waiver to regulate greenhouse gases, Johnson now faces a litany of charges that he has also been duplicitous on an array of other scientific integrity, information suppression and workplace relations issues…..
