Southwest Wyoming High School Honor Band and Choir

On Monday and Tuesday November 19th and 20th, twelve Pinedale high school musicians participated in the annual Southwest Wyoming District Honor Band and Honor Choir. These students practiced with other musicians from the area schools for two days at Mt. View and performed a concert on Tuesday night in the Mt. View School Auditorium. They were selected from nominations sent in by the directors from the eight schools participating in this clinic/concert.
The all district honor choir was directed by Dr. Pat Patton. Dr. Patton is Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Casper College and has made over 400 appearances on four continents as guest conductor, adjudicator and workshop clinician. His very first appearance as a guest clinician was here in Pinedale over 30 years ago.
The all district honor band was under the direction of Dr. Robert Belser. Dr. Belser is an Associate Professor of Music, Director of Bands at the University of Wyoming and conductor of the UW Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra and Community Concert Band. He is also in demand as conductor, clinician and adjudicator throughout the country, Canada and Europe. He was also elected and is now serving on the school board for the Laramie schools.
Both of these directors directed the band and chorus of the Wyoming Ambassadors last summer of which many students from Sublette County toured Europe with.
Pinedale members in the Honor Choir were: Julianne Goltz, Morgan Holz, Mariah McKay, and Sadie Lundberg.
Pinedale band members selected to the Honor Band were Elise Sterck and Stephanie Pape– flute, Kelsi Dean and Kassey Braun– clarinet, Lizzy Cooney– alto saxophone, Elisa Lowham – oboe, Casey Terrell – trombone and Landon Daniel on baritone.
These students are under the direction of Gena Anderson – Pinedale High School choir director and R. Craig Sheppard – Pinedale High School band director.
Schools participating were Lyman, Mt. View, Evanston, Cokeville, Kemmerer, Star Valley, Big Piney and Pinedale.
