Middle School Honor Band & Choir perform

On Saturday October 20th, twelve Pinedale middle school musicians traveled to Big Piney to perform in the Wyoming Southwest District Middle School Honor Band and Honor Choir. They were selected from nine school music programs in the area by the recommendations of their school band directors and choir directors. After practicing all day they performed a concert for the public in the Big Piney School Auditorium.
The director of the 70-member honor band was John Aanestad. Mrs. Leesa Kuhlmann was the director of the 87-voice honor choir. Mrs. Kuhlmann is a music director in Rock Springs. Mr. Aanestad recently retired from instrumental teaching where he was the high school band director in Riverton, Wyoming.
Two students from Pinedale were picked by auditions to play in small groups in front of the audience. Nicole Parker on clarinet was featured in a duet with the band and Shane Adams was featured in a vocal quartet with the choir.
Middle schools participating were Evanston Davis, Evanston Middle, Lyman, Mt. View, Kemmerer, Cokeville, Afton, Big Piney and Pinedale.
Students in the honor choir from Pinedale were: Kristy Brandewie, Adreanna Strasser, Shane Adams, Emily Sikorski, Tomara Conrad, Tayln Costello and Aubrie Doyle. The Pinedale students in the honor band were Kodee Williams, Nicole Parker, Connor Kingsbury, Aunders Hallsten, and Thomas Shaffer. These students are under the direction of Gena Anderson – choir and R. Craig Sheppard – Band.
