EnCana man-camp tour Oct. 25
Public tour of Big Piney facility
October 18, 2007
EnCana Oil and Gas is offering a tour to the public of their man-camp workforce facility which is located in Big Piney, Wyoming. This present facility is located in the Mountain Village Park approximately two miles south of Big Piney (east side of US 189). EnCana has submitted a request to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to relocate this facility closer to their operations on BLM land adjacent to the Jonah Field. The purpose of the tour is to give the public a look at what the facilities look like that house the men and women who work in the field.
“The Jonah Workforce Facility will provide a drug and alcohol free, long-term, quality living environment for our Jonah Field workforce. The dormitory style facility will include a dining area, laundry room, and recreational amenities. Once the facility is no longer needed, the structure will be removed and the land reclaimed,” said Paul Ulrich with EnCana. The facility will provide living accommodations for between 150-200 workers. The request to the BLM is for the capacity of the facility to be a maximum of 350 workers over time.
EnCana believes relocating the facility will enhance safety for both the communities and their workforce, reduce traffic congestion and commute time, protect wildlife, and relieve some of the negative social and economic impacts their workforce is having on local communities.
EnCana is providing free transportation via Sublink Stage for the tour for people coming from the Pinedale area. Anyone interested in going on the tour should meet at the new Sublette County Visitor Center at 11:00 am on Thursday. Big Piney and Marbleton-area residents should meet at the Big Piney man-camp at 12:00 noon.
Directions to the man-camp: Go two miles south of Big Piney on Hwy 189. The Mountain Village Park is on the east side (left side if coming down from Big Piney). Drive in towards the trailer buildings and veer immediately to the right after driving in. Follow the parking lot driveway around to the left and park on the south side of the buildings. Lunch will be in the second building unit, on the southwest end of the complex, in the dining room.
Please RSVP by Wednesday, October 24 to Paul Ulrich at 307-260-6017 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
