June 27, 2007
(Pinedale) - The Patrol's newest Division, 'T', will become a reality on July 1st, 2007. The new Division will encompass all of Sublette County and a portion of northern Sweetwater County along highways US 191, WYO 28 and US 189 to La Barge in northern Lincoln County.
The new Division will have nine Troopers and one Lieutenant. Four Troopers are assigned in Pinedale, two will be assigned to Farson, two assigned to Big Piney and one new position will be assigned in LaBarge.
Trooper Scot Montgomery (Wheatland) has been selected as the new Division Lieutenant and will assume his supervisory duties on July 1st. Scot will move to Pinedale where the new Division Office will be located. Scot began his career with the Patrol in January of 1994.
Troopers who were stationed in Sublette County and were formally in Division 'K', Jackson, and Troopers who were in northern Sweetwater County Division 'E', Rock Springs, will remain at their duty stations under the supervision of the new Division Supervisor.
The distance from the Jackson Division office, where the current Lieutenant is located, necessitated the forming of a division where the Troopers stationed in the outlying areas have better access to an immediate supervisor. An increase in the volume of traffic in this energy impacted area also necessitated the reorganization. The Sublette and Sweetwater County areas have seen as much as a 17% increase in traffic volume on their highways.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol currently operates in five (5) geographical patrol districts. As of July 1st, within those districts there will now be nineteen (19) patrol divisions.
