New Fire in North Cottonwood Creek of Wyoming Range
Nylander Creek Fire at 3 acres Saturday afternoon

(Pinedale, Wyo) - Saturday, June 23 Update: The Nylander Creek Fire was reported at 3:45 Saturday afternoon. The fire is burning in the North Cottonwood Creek drainage near Nylander Creek. Resources that responded to the scene include a Type II helicopter and crew, a Type I helicopter, Sublette County Daniel Engine with more resources on order.
(Editorís Note: Nylander Creek flows into North Cottonwood Creek on the east side of the Wyoming Range. The North Cottonwood Creek road is the one that goes over McDougal Gap accessing the Greys River drainage. It is approximately 30 miles southwest of Daniel and 30 miles northwest of Big Piney on the Big Piney Ranger District.)
The fire was reported at about 3 acres and included active surface fire, spotting and torching. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
No area, road, or trail closures are currently in effect but crews and helicopters are working on the fire and the public is urged to stay out of the area.
The Horse Creek fire approximately 8 miles to the north, is still burning and is about 10% contained. Fire Danger on the Bridger-Teton remains moderate. Forest visitors are urged to use extreme caution when recreating on public lands. Always completely extinguish campfires and never leave campfires unattended.
