The Horse Creek road is a county road, not state maintained, meaning Sublette County pays for the road repair and maintenance costs. Natural gas exploratory well drilling on National Forest land northwest of this location will significantly increase the heavy truck traffic on this road and resulting costs to keep it repaired. The wells may or may not prove up to produce gas which would result in tax revenue to the county.
