Property Tax Bill dead, says Olsen
Indefinitely postponed by Revenue Committee

(Cheyenne, Wyo) Rapidly rising property values in Sublette County are certainly welcome by those who are selling their home or land, but when it comes to property taxes, these rapidly rising property values can be a serious problem, especially for retired persons.

Our Sublette County Commissioners have sought to do something about this, but there is not much that can be done when our state law doesn't permit them to lower these taxes.

Northern Sublette County's State Representative, Monte Olsen, sought to change the state law with House Joint Resolution HJR-01.

On Monday, Monte Olsen reported to KPIN Radio that this "property tax bill" has been indefinitely postponed by the Revenue Committee. That means that the bill is dead.
Monte Olsen told KPIN, "I am disappointed but will not give up the fight for meaningful property tax reform."
