A local Sublette County group is proposing that a multi-purpose community recreation center be built in Marbleton to serve the Big Piney-Marbleton area. The facility would be paid for by Sublette County government, along with contributions from individuals and industry.
The facility is tentatively planned to have a multi-purpose gymnasium, bowling lanes, indoor running track, climbing wall, exercise equipment, entertainment/arcade room, teen room, indoor/outdoor playground, snack café and day care center. It would be a family-oriented center with a supervised environment.
The total construction cost is not known at this time, but it is estimated to likely be between 8 to 10 million dollars.
Since the Sublette County Commissioners have said that they will NOT fund the facility unless it can be shown that the local community would strongly support building the facility and use it on a regular basis, the planning group has put together a survey to find out what local residents want to do.
At the urging of the county commissioners, the group is mailing out a questionnaire to everyone with a 83113 or 83123 zip code. The survey will go out in the mail on February 1st. Residents are asked to fill it out and return it by February 10th.
Questions on the survey include:
- Would your household support or oppose the construction of a multi-purpose public recreation center in Marbleton, primarily using county government funds?
- How often would members of your household would use such a facility?
- Do you have a need for the Child Care Facility at the Rec Center?
- Do you have a need for after-school type activities to be held at the Rec Center?
