Snowmobilers: Hereís advance warning for week after next, on Monday and Tuesday, January 29-30, the IPSSSDR Sled Dog Race will be in town for the Pinedale stages. The Pinedale leg will be on the CDT in the Upper Green, sharing the trail with snowmobilers. They will stage out of the Upper Green snowmobile parking lot, so if you plan to sled those days, be prepared for extra activity on the trail and sled dog teams and vehicles in the parking lots.
A strong storm system will bring light snow to western Wyoming Saturday through Sunday evening. Only an inch or two is expected in the western mountains. The eastern side of the state is expected to get more. The storm will also bring northwest to north winds, bringing down the wind chill factor. Anyone venturing outside to participate in winter sports, or just spectate, should dress in warm layers and with gloves and face coverings to protect from the cold wind. Roads will likely become snow-covered and slick this evening.
