Explosion injures 5 people

An explosion at the M & N Equipment Yard on Mesa Road injured five people on Tuesday, October 3.
According to the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), numerous calls came in around 11:00 am Tuesday morning reporting an explosion on Mesa Road. The Sheriff’s office dispatched SCSO officers, ambulances from Pinedale and Big Piney, volunteer fire departments from Pinedale, Big Piney and Daniel, and Sublette County Emergency Management personnel to the site.
First responders on the scene found there had been an explosion and subsequent fire at the M & N Equipment Yard. Workers had been welding on a 400-barrel tank that contained a flammable liquid. The tank exploded and caught fire, according to the SCSO.
The resulting fire caused injuries to five people. One person was flown to the University of Utah Burn Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Two people were taken by ambulance to St. John’s Hospital in Jackson, and two others were treated and released at local medical clinics.
The fire destroyed a semi-truck, a welding truck, a private car, a fork lift and the 400-barrel tank.
