Horse Creek Fire: Wildfire
The Horse Creek fire was started by lightning on Thursday, August 17. The fire is located two miles inside the Gros Ventre Wilderness in the Little Horse Creek drainage. It is six miles northeast of Hoback Junction on the Jackson Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The fire is burning in heavy dead and down fuels of old spruce and conifer and is located in very steep terrain.

No structures or private properties are threatened. There has been little change in the fire size over the last few days. Firefighters are holding the southeast flank of the fire and have been able to suppress spots with the help of a local helicopter. To help minimize impact within the wilderness boundary, fire managers are using Forest Service mule trains to deliver food and supplies to firefighters.

There are no trail or trail closures have been initiated at this time for the Horse Creek fire.
