No fire restrictions yet on BTNF
by Bridger-Teton National Forest
July 24, 2006

Fire management officials at the Bridger-Teton National Forest said that there are no indicators for moving the Forest into fire restrictions at this time. "he Bridger-Teton received quite a bit of snow at the higher elevations and the Forest just hasn’t dried out like the parts of Wyoming in the lower elevations,"said Fire Management Officer Rod Dykehouse.

Fire managers consider several factors – including moisture content of various fuel types, current and expected weather trends, available fire-fighting resources, and local fire activity – when evaluating the need for fire restriction.

Fire managers will continue monitoring fuel and weather conditions and coordinate with neighboring County fire officials and agencies on the needfor fire restrictions during the remainder of the fire season.

Fire managers continue to encourage Forest users to be careful with fire when recreating on the Forest. "e had a few abandoned campfires over the weekend and we really need the public’s help to make sure the campfires arecompletely cold to the touch before leaving the area," said Dykehouse.
