Looking for current demographic statistics and research information for Sublette County? A new website is now online which provides a wealth of information about Sublette County. The new site is www.sublette-se.org.
One of the challenges for those seeking current demographic information about any area is finding reliable statistics and recent sources for information. State and federal sources are often several years old. For an area that is changing rapidly, such as what Sublette County is experiencing with the oil and gas boom, more recent data is needed.
In 2005, a new group was created to help compile statistics about social and economic changes occurring in Sublette County due to the impacts of oil and gas development. The group was called the Socioeconomic Analyst Advisory Committee (SAAC). Its purpose was to gather and analyze data and to help facilitate local community planning and decision making. Joint funding for the group was secured from the State of Wyoming Governor’s Office and Sublette County to hire a professional to collect relevant data. A committee was formed comprised of elected officials from Sublette County, Big Piney, Marbleton, Pinedale and the State of Wyoming to oversee the analyst’s work.
Jeffrey Jacquet was hired as the sociologist and analyst for the committee. The website is intended to act as a clearinghouse for all data produced by the SAAC, and to provide links to additional information sources on the socioeconomic impacts of gas activity in Sublette County.
